1 Definition of a database

1.1 Definition of the database

A data base is a collection of data. We can consider the data base as a mechanism organized to store information and allow a user to find them effectively.

1.2 Definition of the relational database

A relational data base is a data base divided into logical units called tables, in relations within the base. A relational data base allows to divide the data into smaller logical units and simpler to manage. It results from it a simplified maintenance and an improvement of the performances according to the level of organization. Indeed tables are in relation by means of a common key.
